This is a POSTER sized print of an early 1900's postcard featuring the "Barnum & Bailey Greatest Show on Earth." In 1907, the stockholders of Barnum and Bailey's Circus approved the sale of the circus to the Ringlings - a group of 5 brothers who had been in the business since 1882. The shows continued to operate independently until World War I forced them to merge. From 1919 on, the show would be known as the Ringling Bros. & Barnum & Bailey Circus.
The postcard features the Duryea Automobile - America's first gasoline powered buggy and the winner of the world's first-ever auto race. It was printed by the Springfield News Company (est. 1902).
