Howard Thurston was a stage magician who started performing in the late 1800's, after a visit to Alexander Herrmann's magic show left him awestruck. An eventual peer of Harry Houdini, Thurston became one of the most famous magicians of his time, with the largest traveling act in the United States. The image on this shirt comes from the cover of one of Thurston's trick books, published in 1917.
