This incredible image comes from the cover of an authentic and rare 1920 edition of "Glinda of Oz." The book is the 14th and final book in Frank L. Baum's original Oz series. A true piece of Wizard of Oz history!
Baum's 1900 children's novel, "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz," refers to Glinda as the "Good Witch of the South." In the well-known 1939 film version, Glinda is a composite character with the Witch of the North. In Gregory Maguire's 1995 revisionist novel, "Wicked," she is initially called "Galinda," but changes her name after the martyrdom of her friend and mentor, Dr. Dillamond. The relationship between Glinda and Elphaba (the wicked witch) is explored further in the popular 2003 musical of the same name, and in the forthcoming movie adaptation of the musical, Glinda will be played by Ariana Grande!
