This image comes from the "Pictorial Illustrations" section of a 1931 French Dictionary - which is a very thick and heavy book! It includes example drawings of all sorts of weapons ("armes" in French) and firearms from the early 1900's, with labels of their French names. Some examples include the crossbow, sword, lance, pistol, and cannon.
